What no one tells you about veganism is that it is very very simple 🙂 . I have just the 3 step recipe to achieve this.
Step 1: Eat plants and all plants.
Vegan food is not restrictive. If someone tells you this, that’s just a lie to discourage you. There are over 20,000 variety of just edible fruits and vegetables. And there is like what 12 types of meat?! Even this meat isn’t edible without the veggies and spices made from plants. Since the world isn’t completely a vegan friendly place yet (we are making progress though), you will have situations where your options can get restrictive. That’s not because of vegan food though it’s how the society is made up. Don’t let that demotivate you. And these situations are not going to define your journey. If anything they’ll teach you to be stronger 🙂 .
Vegan food is the cheapest you can get. I’m talking staples like rice, veggies, dried beans, lentils, spices, pasta, oatmeal etc. However, on the other hand meat is expensive. In South India (where i grew up) the people would buy meat once in a week or during special festivals. So it was like 3-4 servings in a month for a family of 4. As it was expensive that was never in daily meals. Everyday food was the staples, wheat breads and rice with loads of flavourful veggies.
On a budget? no problem just stick to the basic staples. They’ll keep you full feed more people and come for a longer time too. Vegan alternatives are easy to make in home for example almond milk, coconut yoghurt or parmesan cheese. And there are tons of recipes for them!
Step 2: Know it all.
Knowledge is the key. Not just for the sassy vegan comebacks 🙂 but to know the reason. ‘Why are you doing, what you are doing’. There are so many scientific studies, documentaries, books, You tube and other social media platforms that talks about veganism. It’s an ocean out there.
Start small, from your day to day. Firstly is ‘food’ and ‘health’ follows. Secondly ‘lifestyle’ and ‘ethics’ follow. Go slow at your pace, there is no deadlines.
Unfortunately there are also a lot of wrong information as well. Celebrities or famous people, who stop being vegan might put out a wrong / false message on veganism. A vegan who is supporting non-vegan ways might confuse you.
Vegan diet (whole plant foods) is scientifically proven to be the best for human beings.
Step-3 Make veganism your SENSE.
- An awareness, the voice that comes from within you.
- A sensation, that feeling you get in your heart.
- A consciousness, the being from within.
To achieve this SENSE you need the experience, you need to see it, hear it, feel it and know it. Every time you get stuck, face a hurdle, find it hard or question your decision you go back to your experience, the basics right. And your sense will guide.
Kindness and compassion to all souls is the way to being awaken.
Im hoping to have made a teensy contribution to help you on your journey. Thank you for taking the time being here, reading this.
Until next time…… Vegandiarist 🙂
